David Peebles

David Peebles is Professor and Director of the Centre for Cognition and Neuroscience at the University of Huddersfield's School of Human and Health Sciences. His research develops computational cognitive models to understand human interaction with external information representations, using the ACT-R cognitive architecture to investigate diagrammatic reasoning and problem-solving.

Peebles' work examines how people interpret complex visualizations like graphs, maps, and interfaces, with applications in healthcare training, legal decision-making, and autonomous systems. His recent research explores dementia assessment methodologies, lie detection paradigms, and immersive technologies for medical education.
