David Parisi is the Dibner Family Professor of the History and Philosophy of Technology and Science and an Associate Professor in the Department of Technology, Culture, and Society at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. His research focuses on the history and future of digital touch, haptic interfaces, and media archaeology.
Education: PhD from New York University’s Department of Media, Culture, and Communication, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Rutgers University. His work bridges media studies, science & technology studies, and critical theory.
Research Interests: Haptics, cybernetics, interfaces, media archaeology, digital touch ethics, and the cultural history of tactile technologies.
Publications include Archaeologies of Touch (2018) and over 30 articles on haptic media, video game historiography, and the sociology of touch. His work has been featured in venues like Real Life, Logic, and Flash Forward.
Lab/Team: Engaged with NYU’s interdisciplinary technology studies community, focusing on ethical design of haptic systems and digital interaction frameworks.
