Dr. David B. Nieborg is a Professor of Media & Platform Studies at the University of Toronto, affiliated with the Department of Arts, Culture and Media (UTSC) and cross-appointed to the Faculty of Information. Holding a PhD from the University of Amsterdam, he is also a Senior Fellow at Massey College and Faculty Affiliate at the Schwartz Reisman Institute.
Research Focus: He explores the intersection of media, technology, and cultural production, with a focus on game industries, platform economics, and digital journalism. His work has been published in outlets like New Media & Society and Media, Culture and Society.
Key Publications: Co-authored Platforms and Cultural Production (Polity, 2021) and authored Mainstreaming and Game Journalism (MIT Press, 2023), examining how game journalism shapes cultural legitimacy.
