David Moranta Mesquida

David Moranta Mesquida serves as a Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of the Balearic Islands, specializing in Physiology. His academic career spans over two decades with significant contributions across multiple physiological research domains.

His research interests encompass animal and human physiology, neurophysiology, immunology, and neuroscience, with particular emphasis on neuroinflammatory and neuroprotective processes related to brain aging. His work has evolved through three distinct research periods: initial studies on cannabinoid and alcohol effects on brain monoaminergic systems, investigation of innate immune responses during bacterial infections (particularly antibiotic-resistant strains like Klebsiella pneumoniae), and current research on strategies to delay brain aging.

Dr. Moranta teaches multiple courses including Animal Physiology, Behavioral Physiology, and Chronobiology at both undergraduate and master's levels. He oversees final degree projects and integrated internships in Physiology and Cell Biology, primarily within the Biology Bachelor's program and Neuroscience Master's program.
