معرفی
David Mattingly is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of New Hampshire's College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. He specializes in theoretical physics, focusing on quantum gravity, relativistic gravity models, and high-energy astrophysics phenomena. His research examines Lorentz violation, black hole thermodynamics, and gravitational dynamics through frameworks like Einstein-aether theory and Hořava-Lifshitz gravity.
Education: Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Maryland and B.A. from Dartmouth College. He teaches advanced physics courses including Advanced Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Physics, and Electricity & Magnetism.
Research Interests: Mattingly explores quantum gravity phenomenology, gravitational theories with preferred frames, and astrophysical constraints on Lorentz symmetry. His work addresses foundational questions such as energy localization in quantum systems and the gravitization of quantum mechanics. Recent studies include investigations into elliptic modes in black hole thermodynamics and diffeomorphism invariance paradoxes.
Publications: Over 50 peer-reviewed articles, including influential work on Lorentz violation constraints (e.g., 2003 Nature paper) and foundational reviews on modern tests of Lorentz invariance (2005). His recent papers (2023–2024) advance understanding of quantum-gravity interfaces and relational information dynamics.
Teaching & Office: Located in Demeritt Hall, Durham, NH. Courses span undergraduate physics to doctoral research supervision. Active in curriculum development for physics education and research methodology training.
