David Major

David Major is a Teaching Professor of Strategy and Associate Dean for Engagement at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business. He leads efforts in faculty recruitment, curriculum development, and DEI initiatives. Previously, he held leadership roles at the University of Miami Herbert School of Business, including Global Chair of OneMBA, Academic Director of HBCU-Start, and Faculty Senate Chair of Equity & Inclusion. His career includes corporate experience in manufacturing management at General Motors and consulting at PwC and Gibson & Associates.

His research focuses on Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship, with notable work on competitive behaviors and organizational dynamics. Active in governance, he chairs multiple committees at CMU, including the Vice Provost’s Academic Diversity Officers Committee and the Tepper School Executive Committee.

His professional activities include service on the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and leadership in initiatives like the Accelerate Leadership Center and the Tepper School’s 2030 Strategic Plan.
