David M. Krum

David M. Krum serves as Assistant Professor of Computer Science at California State University, Los Angeles within the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology. He leads the Experience Lab (XP Lab) specializing in human-computer interaction research and development of virtual and augmented reality technologies, and co-directs the Institute for Interactive Arts, Research, and Technology (InART).

His educational background includes:

• Ph.D. in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology
• M.S. in Computer Science from University of Alabama in Huntsville
• B.S. in Engineering and Applied Science from California Institute of Technology

Dr. Krum's research focuses on human-computer interaction with specialization in virtual reality, augmented reality, and 3D interaction. He began VR research in 1998 with pioneering work on wearable computers and 3D visualizations for spatial cognition, developing eyeglass-mounted displays a decade before Google Glass. His research has evolved to encompass broader applications of immersive technologies.

For Fall 2024, he teaches CS 4555-01: Introduction to 3D Game Programming and CS 4875-01: Human Centered Computing. Previous courses include Introduction to Programming, Virtual Reality, and Human-Centered Design. He mentors students through journal clubs and research projects in his expertise areas.
