David M Dalpiaz

David M Dalpiaz is a Teaching Associate Professor at the University of Illinois' Department of Computer Science, part of the College of Engineering. He teaches courses such as CS 307 (Model & Learning in Data Science), CS 441 (Applied Machine Learning), and STAT 385 (Statistics Programming Methods). His work focuses on integrating modern statistical and computational methods into education, particularly analyzing student interactions and improving pedagogical strategies through data science.

Recent research includes a paper analyzing engineering education interactions via time series methods, earning a second-place award in the ASEE New Engineering Educators division. This work is under consideration for a Best Paper Award.

As a new faculty member joining the 2025 cohort of 17 Computer Science hires, Dalpiaz contributes to both undergraduate and graduate curriculum development in data science and applied statistics.
