David J. Veselik

David J. Veselik is a Teaching Professor and Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Advising in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Notre Dame, College of Science. He has been a key figure in undergraduate biology education since 2007, progressing from Postdoctoral Research Associate to his current leadership roles.

His research interests focus on Cellular & Molecular Biology and Cancer, with additional engagement in Molecular Genetics of Disease and Environmental Science. His teaching philosophy emphasizes experiential learning, integrating laboratory work with theoretical knowledge in courses such as Cell Biology and its laboratory counterpart.

David J. Veselik has been recognized for his exceptional advising with the Dockweiler Award for Undergraduate Advising (2017). He has served as Director of Undergraduate Studies (2013–2021) and Academic Co-Director of the Summer Scholars Program (2011–present).

His educational outreach extends to pre-college programs, where he co-teaches in the Life Science track, integrating field ecology and molecular biology experiments.
