David J. Luitz

David J. Luitz serves as a Research Group Leader for “Computational Quantum Many-Body Physics” at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems (MPI-PKS) in Dresden, Germany since 2018. His career spans prestigious international fellowships including a Marie Sklodowska Curie Fellowship at TU Munich (2017-2018) and a Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2015-2016).

His research focuses on computational approaches to quantum many-body systems, leveraging advanced numerical methods to explore statistical mechanics and condensed matter phenomena. This interdisciplinary work bridges theoretical physics and high-performance computing to address complex quantum behavior in materials.

Luitz received his PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Würzburg in 2013 under advisor Prof. Dr. Fakher F. Assaad, following postdoctoral research at Université de Toulouse with Dr. Fabien Alet and Dr. Nicolas Laflorencie.
