David J. Palmer is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he has served on the faculty since 1997. His clinical practice encompasses general ophthalmology with a subspecialty focus on glaucoma, treating patients at the Northwestern Medicine Lavin Pavilion and Evanston NM Outpatient Clinic locations.

He spearheaded the passage of the Topical Eye Drop Act (Illinois HB 3638) and Facilities Medication Waste Act (Illinois PA 102-0155). Currently, he co-chairs the ASCRS OICS OR Waste Surgical Pharmaceutical Subcommittee and serves on the American Academy of Ophthalmology's Committee on Sustainability.
