David Groiser

David Groiser is an Associate Professor of German and Fellow of Brasenose College at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on German literature and thought from the Enlightenment to the modern era, with special emphasis on German-Jewish culture, critical theory, and philosophical theology. He holds an M.A. and D.Phil. from the University of Oxford.

His teaching spans German literature from the 18th to 20th centuries, including figures like Kant, Goethe, Nietzsche, Kafka, and Thomas Mann. He explores intersections between German intellectual traditions and Jewish cultural identity, particularly in works by Buber, Scholem, and Fromm.

Publications include monographs on Martin Buber's religious writings and seminal articles analyzing German-Jewish cultural renaissance, Yiddish translation challenges, and foundational thinkers like Kierkegaard and Rosenzweig.
