David Gonçalves is an Assistant Professor and researcher at CIBIO-InBIO, affiliated with the University of Porto, where he conducts studies in avian ecology and conservation. Dr. Gonçalves holds a PhD and has conducted extensive research on the biogeography and population dynamics of birds in the Macaronesian archipelagos, particularly the Azores. His research explores intraspecific variation in migration, insular adaptations, and the use of ecological modeling to support conservation strategies.
His recent publications reveal a strong trend in the study of morphological and genetic adaptations in island bird populations, using tools such as GIS, population genetics, and long-term field monitoring.
