David G. Schwartz, Ph.D., is a Professor and Certified Organizational Ombuds Practitioner at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where he also serves as the Ombuds and Affiliate Professor in the Department of History. He joined UNLV in 2001, earning tenure in 2006 and promotion to full professor in 2013. His career spans roles such as Associate Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs (2019–2021) and Director of the Center for Gaming Research (2001–2018).

His research focuses on Gambling History, Las Vegas and Nevada History, and Conflict Resolution. He has authored 12 books, including works on Las Vegas casinos, gambling evolution, and Atlantic City’s transformation. As an ombuds, he supports UNLV’s 10,000 employees and students through confidential discussions, Certified Mediator under the Clark County Neighborhood Justice Center (2022), and facilitative mediation techniques rooted in mutual respect.
Recent writings on his blog, Informed Informality, explore topics like alternate history, self-sabotage, workplace stress, and legacy planning. These works reflect his interdisciplinary approach to informal conflict resolution and cultural analysis. He received the Honors College Department in Honors Teaching Award (2022) and the History Preservation Award (2021) for his contributions to Las Vegas historical scholarship.
