David Frankfurter, MD, is a Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine. He holds leadership roles as Fellowship Director of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility and is affiliated with the Yale Fertility Center. He received his BS from Syracuse University (1986) and MD from Yale Medical School (1991), followed by residency at Yale New Haven Hospital and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Harvard/Beth Israel Deaconess. Previously, he served as Section Chief of REI at George Washington University (2013–2023) before returning to Yale.
His research focuses on ovarian aging, fertility preservation, and health disparities in ART outcomes. He co-edited Optimizing the Management of Fertility in Women Over 40 (2022) and is editing Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Fertility and Assisted Reproduction (Springer, 2025). Key interests include AMH testing, PCOS, and vitamin D’s role in fertility.
Frankfurter’s awards include annual ASRM Star Awards since 2016 and repeated listings in Top Doctors (Connecticut, 2021–2025). His work addresses clinical practice improvements, such as refining IVF protocols and addressing disparities in access and outcomes.
