David Eriksson is an Associate Professor and Program Manager for the Master's Program in Resource Recovery – AI-Enhanced Supply Chain Management at the University of Borås, Faculty of Textiles, Engineering and Business. He holds positions in the Department of Engineering within the Academy of Textiles, Technology and Economics, contributing significantly to both research and educational initiatives at the university.
His academic journey includes a Bachelor of Science and Technology in Industrial Engineering (2009), Master of Technology in Industrial Engineering (2009), all from University of Borås, followed by a Licentiate of Technology in Technology Economics and Organization from Chalmers University of Technology (2012), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Textile Management from University of Borås (2014). He was appointed Associate Professor in Logistics at Jönköping University of Technology in 2018.
Dr. Eriksson's research focuses on supply chain design using critical realism methodology, with particular emphasis on manufacturing reshoring in Nordic countries, moral responsibility in supply chains, and sustainable business models. His recent work explores drivers and barriers for manufacturing reshoring, value creation across organizational borders, and the relationship between moral disengagement and supply chain sustainability. He has developed frameworks for understanding social responsibility in supply chains, identifying sixteen elements classified as drivers, facilitators, and inhibitors.
His research output shows a clear trajectory toward increasingly sophisticated analysis of supply chain dynamics, with recent publications demonstrating stronger integration of theoretical frameworks with empirical evidence. The work spans multiple disciplines including operations management, business ethics, sustainability, and international business, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of modern supply chain research.

Dr. Eriksson serves as associate editor for the European Business Review and has held various editorial positions.
