David Echternacht

Professor David Echternacht serves at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering & Information Technology, where he leads the teaching and research area of Electrical Grids and Energy Economics since March 2022.

His research expertise spans multiple critical energy domains:

Professor Echternacht completed his dissertation at RWTH Aachen University in 2014 on 'Optimized Positioning of Measurement Technology for Condition Estimation in Distribution Grids' and brings substantial industry experience from positions at SPIE SAG GmbH, Stadtwerke Bochum Netz GmbH, and NRW.Energy4Climate GmbH to his academic role.

He teaches multiple courses including Electrical Energy Supply, Electrical Grids, Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering, Energy Economics, and Asset Management for Supply Grids across both bachelor's and master's programs.

Professor Echternacht actively supervises student theses in his specialty areas, welcoming both student-proposed topics and offering current research topics through industry collaborations and internal research projects.
