David Danz is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Pittsburgh. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Technical University of Berlin and the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, and a MSc in Economics from Humboldt University of Berlin. His research focuses on experimental and behavioral economics, with emphasis on beliefs and cognitive biases, information processing, learning, and social norms. He has published in top journals such as the American Economic Review and Games and Economic Behavior.
His recent work explores incentive compatibility, belief elicitation mechanisms, and the impact of legal standards on consumer behavior. Collaborations include studies on hindsight bias in competitive settings and the design of optimal experimental protocols. Danz is affiliated with the Pittsburgh Experimental Economics Lab (PEEL) and the Behavioral Economics Design Initiative.
Key contributions include advancing methodologies for behavioral incentive compatibility testing and analyzing the role of experimenter demand in experimental outcomes. His research bridges theoretical models with empirical evidence, addressing real-world applications of behavioral insights.
