David Chandler

David Chandler is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Syracuse University. He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from Cornell University. His research focuses on hydrologic changes driven by anthropogenic and climatic factors, with specific interests in wildland hydrology, climate change impacts, green infrastructure performance, and urban sustainability. Chandler investigates alterations in flow paths, water balances, and infiltration capacities across diverse environments including deforested areas, rangelands, and urban settings.

His current research includes developing empirical models to predict climate change effects on regional hydrology using long-term datasets, evaluating green infrastructure in urban stormwater management, and analyzing sustainability intersections between urbanization and ecosystem function. Chandler teaches courses in Fluid Mechanics, Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, and Snow Science.
