David Chamberlain is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Tax at the Orfalea College of Business, California Polytechnic State University. He serves as Director of the Masters in Taxation program and brings extensive practical experience from a 25-year career as a tax attorney and advisor in Big Four accounting firms, the IRS Advanced Pricing Agreement program, and international engagements in China.
Research Interests include:
- Transfer pricing and international tax frameworks
- Taxation of cryptocurrencies and high-tech industries
- Legal standards like "commensurate with income" and BEPS initiatives
- European State Aid cases and employee stock option regulations
Publications appear in Florida Tax Review, Virginia Tax Review (forthcoming), Tax Notes Federal, and Tax Notes International. He authored the transfer pricing chapter in Bittker & Lokken’s Federal Taxation of Income, Estates and Gifts and co-authored a book on international taxation history with focus on China.
Teaching encompasses graduate courses in international tax, advanced corporate tax, and taxation of high technology, alongside undergraduate federal taxation of individuals.
