David Chalmers is a leading philosopher at New York University, holding the title of University Professor of Philosophy and Neural Science. He co-directs the Center for Mind, Brain, and Consciousness and serves as Honorary Professor of Philosophy at the Australian National University. Additionally, he co-directs the PhilPapers Foundation, a key resource for philosophical scholarship.
Chalmers' research spans multiple disciplines, focusing on the philosophy of mind, particularly the hard problem of consciousness, the foundations of cognitive science, and the philosophy of technology. He has explored topics such as AI welfare, consciousness in large language models, and metaphysics/modality.
