David Bryant

David Bryant is the Frank P. Iacobell Associate Professor and Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. He also serves as Interim Division Director for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Chief of Obstetrics for the Detroit Medical Center and Hutzel Women’s Hospital, where he provides comprehensive maternal-fetal care.

Education:

• B.S. in Integrated Life Sciences, Kent State University, 1987
• M.D., Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, 1991
• Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, William Beaumont Hospital, 1991–1995
• Fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Wayne State University/Hutzel Women’s Hospital, 1995–1997

Research & Clinical Interests:

Dr. Bryant’s expertise centers on maternal-fetal medicine, with a particular focus on high-risk pregnancies. He is deeply engaged in the clinical care of maternal medical conditions, especially diabetes and opioid use disorder during pregnancy. His work also encompasses operative vaginal delivery and evidence-based intrapartum care.

Throughout his career he has maintained an active commitment to clinical research and resident/fellow education, translating advances in obstetric science into improved outcomes for mothers and infants in Detroit and beyond.
