David Brownholland is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Carthage College, located in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at Centenary College of Louisiana from 2010 to 2014. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Purdue University (focusing on biosensor development for cancer therapy via organic chemistry) and a postdoctoral fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, where he researched oxygenated steroids' effects on cardiovascular disease.
His current research emphasizes design and synthesis of lipids/surfactants for drug delivery and green chemistry applications, alongside developing discovery-based organic chemistry experiments for undergraduate education. Students in his lab gain expertise in air-free synthesis, purification techniques, and NMR spectroscopy. His work bridges organic chemistry with biomedical and environmental applications.
Prof. Brownholland teaches organic and general chemistry courses, integrating hands-on experimental methods into the curriculum. While no specific grants or labs are named, his research activities suggest active engagement in interdisciplinary projects involving chemistry and medicine.
