Dr. David Bronkema is a Professor and holds the Templeton Chair for Christian Service through Entrepreneurship at Eastern University's College of Business and Leadership. He teaches courses in organizational leadership, qualitative research, and global advocacy. He directed the Master's of International Development and MBA in Economic Development programs before serving as Dean of Palmer Theological Seminary (2021).
Education: Ph.D. in Sociocultural Anthropology and M.A. in International Relations from Yale University. His doctoral work examined Protestant missions in Latin America and their impact on Christian NGOs in development work.
Research focuses on intersections between business, faith, justice, and development. Key interests include spiritual metrics, Business as Mission, religion and development, and faith-based anthropological theory. Co-founded the Christian Relief, Development, and Advocacy journal.
Notable contributions include creating evangelical advocacy resources, organizing conferences on spiritual impact measurement, and advising development agencies. His work integrates theological perspectives with practical development initiatives.
Holds the Lindback Award for Teaching Excellence (2010). Served with American Friends Service Committee in Central America and Andean Region. Active in boards/consultancies related to development organizations.
