David Berezan is a Professor of Electroacoustic Composition and Director of the Electroacoustic Music Studios and MANTIS (Manchester Theatre in Sound) at The University of Manchester. He holds a PhD in Electroacoustic Composition from the University of Birmingham (2003) and has held residences at institutions worldwide, including EMS Sweden, ZKM Germany, and Ina-GRM France. His research focuses on electroacoustic music composition, spatial audio, data sonification, and interdisciplinary collaborations. His works are published by Empreintes DIGITALes.

Research interests include multi-channel composition, sound diffusion performance, music for film/dance/installation, and electroacoustic music aesthetics. His recent projects explore intersections between sound and sport science, as seen in works like SoundRunner: Out of the Starting Blocks (2023).
He has received awards from competitions such as Klang! (France), Music Viva (Portugal), and Bourges (France). Notable works include 94 (2024), Smudge (2023), and Ukulele (2023), showcasing his expertise in spatial audio and acousmatic music.
