معرفی
Dr. David Bartlett is a Senior Lecturer of Exercise Immunology and Head of Exercise Science Research at the School of Biosciences and Medicine, University of Surrey. He holds an adjunct role as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Duke University, where he previously served as an Assistant Professor. He earned his PhD in Immunology from the University of Birmingham and completed postdoctoral research at Duke, focusing on exercise’s impact on the immune system in aging and disease.
His research bridges bench and bedside, investigating exercise’s role in modulating immune dysfunction in populations such as cancer patients, older adults, and those with chronic illnesses. Key areas include immunosenescence, inflammation, and immunometabolism. He leads studies on how energy balance and exercise can improve outcomes for individuals with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and other conditions.
Dr. Bartlett currently supervises 5 PhD students, including Ellie Miles and Uzma Zaheer, who focus on clinical exercise interventions and disease mechanisms. He teaches modules like BMS3103 Exercise Immunology, emphasizing immune responses during exercise in health and disease. His work has produced over 45 publications, with recent studies exploring exercise’s effects on tumor immunity, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancer survivorship.
