Dr. David B Anthony serves as an Advanced Technical Project Coordinator in the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London, affiliated with the Faculty of Engineering. His research focuses on hierarchical composites, particularly the synthesis of carbon nanoforms like carbon nanotubes and aerogels, and their integration into advanced materials. Key projects include the NextCOMP programme (EPSRC grant EP/T011653/1), collaborating with the University of Bristol to enhance composite performance in compression.
Research interests span Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Macromolecular Chemistry, with a strong emphasis on structural power composites and multifunctional materials. He leads initiatives in the NanoHAC (Nanostructured Hierarchical Assemblies and Composites), PaCE (Polymer and Composites Engineering), and The Composite Centre groups, driving innovations in material design and manufacturing.
Publications highlight advancements in aerogel-infused composites, structural supercapacitors, and carbon nanotube grafting techniques. His work bridges chemical engineering, aeronautics, and materials science, addressing challenges in composite durability and energy storage integration. Current projects also explore scalable production methods for nanomaterial-reinforced composites.
Grants include multiple EPSRC awards (EP/I02946X/1, EP/K503733/1, etc.) and collaborations with industry partners like Imperial Innovations. His contributions have been recognized through initiatives like the Formula 1 HiPerDuCT project and the US201515326156 patent.
