David Aurelio is a Part-time Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tufts University. He holds a PhD in Human-Machine Systems from Northeastern University (2002), an M.S. in Occupational Health & Safety Engineering (Ergonomics) from the University of Michigan (1985), and a B.S. in Engineering Psychology from Tufts University (1982).
His research focuses on user research, user interface design, usability evaluation, and spans domains such as consumer electronics, medical products, automotive, and software design. He has over three decades of industry experience with companies like General Motors, Kodak, Bose, Oracle, Autodesk, and Dassault Systèmes.
AUTHORSHIP: Aurelio has authored 13 peer-reviewed journal/conference publications, 185 internal industry technical reports, and a book titled *Search Query Ambiguity: When Lists Are Not Enough*. He has presented at Tufts, MIT, Northeastern, and the U.S. Military Academy on human factors and usability topics.
TEACHING: Previously taught as an adjunct assistant professor of Human Factors at Syracuse University. Current role involves part-time academic engagement alongside industry consulting.
