Dr. Dave Kampers is a Lecturer at the University of New South Wales and a researcher with over 18 years of experience in Indigenous Studies and Indigenous Health. His work bridges academic scholarship with community engagement, focusing on the cultural and historical roles of Indigenous athletes in shaping Australian national identity and challenging settler colonial narratives.
His research examines institutions like the AFL, Cricket Australia, and Netball Australia, positioning elite sport as a site of both racial tension and cultural transformation. At UNSW, he teaches Indigenous People and Public Policy (ATSI2014) under the Nura Gili Indigenous Programs unit.
