معرفی
Dr. Dave Gerrard is a Lecturer in Evolutionary Genomics at the Division of Evolution, Infection and Genomics, University of Manchester. He serves as Programme Director for the MSc Genomic Medicine and is Examinations Officer for Genetics and Molecular Biology. His teaching spans courses such as BIOL21232 (Fundamentals of Evolutionary Biology) and BIOL31391 (Evolution of Genes, Genomes & Systems).
Dr. Gerrard holds a PhD from the University of Birmingham (2005), an MSc in Bioinformatics from the University of Manchester (2001), and a BSc in Zoology from Imperial College, London (1998). His research focuses on bioinformatic approaches to understanding genetics and development, particularly in organogenesis, epigenomics, and transcriptomics. He has contributed to studies on human embryonic development, stem cell differentiation, and the genetic basis of diseases like albinism.
His work integrates multi-omics data to uncover regulatory mechanisms in developmental processes. Key projects include an integrative transcriptomic atlas of human organogenesis and analyses linking epigenetic landscapes to developmental disorders. He collaborates widely, with activities including invited talks on epigenetics and evolution, and participation in conferences such as SMBE 2019.
Dr. Gerrard leads datasets like the Human Embryonic Multi-tissue ChIP-seq project, highlighting his commitment to open science. His research aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and innovation.
