Dave Bockus is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Brock University, within the Faculty of Mathematics & Science. He holds a Dipl. Eng. Tech. from the Radio College of Canada (1984), a BSc in Computer Science from Brock University (1990), and an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Guelph (1994).
His primary research interests include User Interfaces, Artificial Intelligence systems (specifically Neural Networks), Computer Hardware design (including CPU architecture and RISC/CISC implementations), and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). He has published works on HTA/KLM editor tools and task performance metrics in displays.
Bockus teaches a wide range of courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, including Computer Organization, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, and courses on Neural Networks. He advises students on projects such as the Marmalaid compiler-support tool and RISC-based CPU architecture designs.
He is known for his hands-on teaching style, emphasizing practical skills in hardware troubleshooting, software development, and system design. His courses often involve lab work with hardware disassembly, OS installation, and network configuration.
