Dasa Mortensen is an Associate Professor of History and Chair of Chinese Studies at Davidson College. She teaches courses on East Asian history, focusing on revolution, gender, ethnicity, and memory in China and Japan.

Mortensen's research investigates how historical forces under the Chinese Communist Party shaped identities and narratives in China's southwest frontier, particularly in Tibetan regions of Yunnan Province. Her current book project explores politics, memory, and identity in Gyalthang during the Mao-era (1949–76).
