Darya Sukhorebska is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in the Research Group Geometry, mentored by Prof. Dr. Alexander Lytchak. She is also a Junior Research Fellow at B.Verkin ILTPE of the NASU in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Her academic affiliations include the Faculty of Mathematics and the Institute of Algebra and Geometry at KIT, where she maintains an office in Kollegiengebäude Mathematik (20.30) 1.028.
Dr. Sukhorebska completed her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Alexander Borisenko at B.Verkin ILTPE of the NASU in Kharkiv, defending her thesis in August 2023. Prior to her current position, she conducted a research visit at the University of Münster with the Differential Geometry Research Group under Prof. Dr. Burkhard Wilking.
Her research focuses on the geometric properties of manifolds admitting isometric group actions. She has extensively investigated the existence and number of closed geodesics on polyhedral surfaces embedded in three-dimensional spaces of constant curvature, as well as the extrinsic properties of submanifolds with cohomogeneity one actions. Currently, she is particularly interested in the topology of positively curved manifolds with symmetry. Her work spans Differential Geometry, Metric Geometry, and the Geometry of Submanifolds, with specific attention to geodesic lines on non-regular surfaces and isometric embeddings of manifolds.
Her publication record demonstrates a consistent research trajectory focused on geodesics on polyhedral surfaces across various geometric settings. She has published multiple papers examining closed geodesics on regular tetrahedra in spherical space, hyperbolic space (Lobachevsky space), and general spaces of constant curvature. Her most recent work extends this investigation to spherical polyhedra. These publications reveal her expertise in applying differential geometric techniques to solve problems at the intersection of discrete and continuous geometry.
Dr. Sukhorebska is actively engaged in teaching and academic service. She teaches courses including Seminar (Differentialgeometrie) and Advanced Mathematics III, and has organized academic events such as the Women in Math Day celebration at KIT. Her extensive conference participation includes presentations at the 8th European Congress of Mathematics, Oberwolfach workshops, and seminars at institutions worldwide including the University of Fribourg, Copenhagen Centre for Geometry and Topology, and the University of Münster.
