Darun Jaf is a Researcher at Örebro University's Department of Behavioral, Social and Legal Sciences within the School of Behavioural, Social and Legal Sciences. His work focuses on adolescent behavior within organized sports, sexual harassment, and the role of parenting in youth development. He is affiliated with the Biopsychosocial Criminology and Psychology research environment and the LEADER Center for Lifespan Developmental Research.
Research interests include parental influence on sports participation, peer dynamics in schools, and mechanisms linking sports involvement to mental health outcomes. He has conducted longitudinal studies on sexual revictimization and explored disparities in sports participation among immigrant and Swedish youth using expectancy-value theory frameworks.
Publications span topics like sports dropout mechanisms, self-harm prevention through sports, and cultural differences in youth engagement. His doctoral thesis (2021) centered on parents' roles in adolescents' sports involvement.
