Darshan Karwat serves as an Associate Professor at Arizona State University's School for the Future of Innovation in Society with secondary affiliation at The Polytechnic School, and holds the title of Senior Global Futures Scientist. His academic work centers on embedding environmental protection, social justice, peace, and human rights within engineering disciplines and professional practice.
His educational background includes:

- B.S.E. in Aerospace Engineering, University of Michigan (2007)
Dr. Karwat's research focuses on Engineering Ethics and Sustainability Ethics, examining how public values influence technology design and the moral responsibilities of engineers. Key questions address environmental governance, renewable energy systems, space technology impacts, animal thriving, and community-engineer collaborations to solve climate challenges. His work spans Climate Change, Energy Policy, and Human Rights with interdisciplinary applications.
He advises graduate students through SOS 799 Dissertation and SOS 792 Research courses. Dr. Karwat founded the re-Engineered initiative to integrate ethical values into engineering practice and co-leads the Constellation Prize. His prior experience includes roles at the US Environmental Protection Agency (2013-2014) and US Department of Energy (2014-2016).
