Dr Darren Kriticos is an Honorary Senior Fellow in the School of the Environment at The University of Queensland (UQ). His research focuses on ecological modeling, particularly in invasion biology and pest management under current and future climates. He develops tools like CLIMEX, DYMEX Version 4, and the CliMond climate data repository to address ecological challenges. Current work emphasizes real-time pest forecasting systems for agriculture.
- Education: Bachelor (Griffith University), Master (University of Adelaide), PhD (UQ).
- Key Research Themes: Biosecurity, climate adaptation, food security, and ecological modeling.
His research integrates climatic niche modeling with practical applications, such as predicting pest distributions and assessing climate change impacts. Collaborative efforts include global projects on invasive species like the Mediterranean fruit fly and fall armyworm. Outputs span over 70 journal articles and conference papers, addressing topics from pest risk assessment to crop protection strategies.
Dr Kriticos’ work bridges ecological theory and applied solutions, aiming to enhance agricultural resilience and environmental management.
