معرفی
**Darrell Kaufman** is a **Regents’ Professor** in the **School of Earth and Sustainability** at **Northern Arizona University (NAU)**. His research focuses on reconstructing past environmental changes using lake sediments, geochronological techniques, and climate proxy syntheses, with an emphasis on Arctic and Alaskan regions. He leads international collaborations, including projects for the IPCC and PAGES, and has extensive experience in fieldwork and lab-based analyses.
**Key Research Areas**: Geochronology (radiocarbon, amino acids, tephras), lake sediment analysis, paleoclimate reconstructions, and climate change impacts in Arctic and Alaskan environments. He directs NAU’s Amino Acid Geochronology Lab and collaborates with the Arizona Climate and Ecosystems Isotope Lab.
**Students & Advising**: Advisor to over 36 graduate students since 1995, with many progressing to academic, government, and industry roles. Current students include Leah Marshall (PhD, permafrost carbon), Hunter Allen (PhD, proglacial lakes), and Aryaana Khan (PhD, climate reconstructions).
**Labs & Facilities**: Oversees facilities for sediment and geochronological analyses, including radiocarbon dating (MICADAS system), hyperspectral imaging, and field equipment for coring and hydrological monitoring. Collaborates with institutions globally on paleoenvironmental datasets and synthesis projects.
