Darrell Henry is Professor and Chair of the Department of Geology & Geophysics at Louisiana State University's College of Science. He holds the Campanile Charities Professorship in Geology and serves as Director of the LSU SACSCOC Reaffirmation of Accreditation. His research focuses on metamorphic petrology, tourmaline crystal chemistry, fluid-rock interactions, and geothermometry.

Henry earned his PhD in metamorphic petrology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1981. His work spans four decades, combining field studies with laboratory analyses of tourmaline and other minerals to reconstruct Earth's geological history. He has contributed extensively to tourmaline nomenclature and classification systems.
