Darko Prebežac is a tenured full Professor at the Department of Tourism, Faculty of Economics & Business, University of Zagreb. He earned all his academic degrees (bachelor, master, PhD) at his current faculty and has been employed there since 1997. He served as Department Head for three mandate periods (2002-2006, 2014-2016) and currently presides the FEB Council for Science.
His research focuses on tourism marketing, transport policy, airline management, and destination branding. He has taught at multiple Croatian faculties (Pula, Rijeka, Split, Dubrovnik) and held visiting professorships at institutions such as the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, Rollins College, and Université de Genève.
Key achievements include:
- Co-founding the Tourism Education Futures Initiative (TEFI) in 2007
- Editor of the book The Tourism Education Futures Initiative - Activating Change in Tourism Education (Routledge, 2013)
- Recipient of prestigious awards including Croatia's National Science Award and three Mijo Mirković Awards
He has participated in scientific projects, delivered manager trainings, and maintains international academic collaborations. Fluent in English, German, and Slovenian.
