معرفی
Dariusz Stramski is a Professor in the Marine Physical Laboratory at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego. His research focuses on ocean optics, radiative transfer, and remote sensing applications in marine environments. He specializes in optical characterization of marine particles, light field dynamics, and the development of optical instrumentation for oceanographic studies. Stramski holds an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Gdansk, Poland. His work bridges laboratory experiments, field observations, and satellite data analysis to advance understanding of ocean carbon dynamics, coastal processes, and optical remote sensing techniques.
His research interests include particle optics, optical remote sensing of marine environments, and optical-biological interactions. He has contributed to global-scale studies on particulate organic carbon estimation, Arctic Ocean biogeochemistry, and algorithm development for satellite ocean color sensors. Stramski’s lab focuses on advancing optical methods for monitoring suspended particulate matter, dissolved organic matter, and light scattering properties in diverse marine ecosystems.
He has led projects involving the MALINA Arctic oceanographic expedition and developed instruments like the AquaScan hyperspectral sensor. His work emphasizes the integration of optical data with biogeochemical processes, aiming to improve environmental monitoring and climate change assessments through innovative sensor technologies and data-driven models.
