Dario Colella is a Full Professor of Theory and Methodology of Human Movement and Technical Theory and Teaching of Motor Activities for Developmental Age at the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Technologies (DiSTEBA) at the University of Salento since September 1, 2021. His expertise lies in Methods and Teaching of Physical Activities (M-EDF/01), with extensive experience in physical education research and teaching methodologies.

Professor Colella's research focuses on epistemology of physical activities, methodology for teaching and learning motor skills, teaching styles and strategies for Physical Education and Sports, models and methods of motor assessment, and relationships between physical activity levels and motor development in children. His work emphasizes multicomponent programs for promoting health and physical activity in developmental age, with particular attention to evidence-based assessment protocols like MOBAK, Fitnessgram, and Eurofit.
As an active member of international organizations, he serves as Delegate of FIEPS (Fédération Internationale d'Education Physique et Sportive) for Italy since 2004 and has held leadership positions in the International Federation of Physical Education. His work bridges academic research with practical applications in school settings, focusing on sustainable development goals related to health, quality education, and gender equality.
