Daria Grabco

Daria Grabco is a Professor and Consultant at the Laboratory of Mechanical Properties of Materials “Iulia Boiarskaia”, part of the Institute of Applied Physics of Moldova in Chișinău. Her work focuses on the mechanical behavior of advanced materials under extreme conditions, including nanocrystalline alloys, semiconductor compounds, and biomaterials. She leads research projects related to deformation mechanics, material processing technologies, and microstructural analysis, contributing to ECAP processing of zirconium alloys, indentation-based material characterization, and biocomposite development for biomedical applications.

Key research areas include:

• Plastic deformation mechanisms in metals and ceramics
• Mechanical properties of semiconductors (PbTe, PbSe)
• Coated systems and thin film mechanics
• Biocomposite materials for medical implants

Her laboratory engages in international collaborations, including EU-funded programs (H2020, FP7), and has pioneered nanoindentation techniques for microstructure analysis. Current projects address challenges in material design for energy applications (e.g., photovoltaics), aerospace alloys, and biomedical devices. She is affiliated with multiple national and international research networks, advancing Moldova’s materials science capabilities through both fundamental and applied research.
