Daragh Bradshaw is an Associate Professor in both the Centre for Social Issues Research and the Department of Psychology at the University of Limerick. Her research focuses on social identity theory, mental health, trauma, and public health, with particular attention to marginalized groups such as LGBTQ+ youth, survivors of child sexual abuse, and children of incarcerated parents. She has contributed to UN Sustainable Development Goals through work on mental health and social inclusion.
Bradshaw's research employs mixed methods, including systematic reviews, thematic analysis, and longitudinal studies. She has published widely on topics like stress physiology, post-traumatic growth, and the psychological impacts of parental incarceration. Her recent work examines how social group membership buffers against stress and trauma, with findings on biomarkers like cortisol reactivity and blood pressure.
She has received multiple awards, including the Evidence Synthesis Ireland Systematic Review Fellowship (2020) and Science Foundation Ireland’s Discover Award (2020). Her research often bridges academic and applied contexts, addressing real-world issues such as pandemic response, school amalgamation effects, and policy implications of incarceration’s societal impacts. Collaborations span international teams in criminology, psychology, and public health.
