Daozhi Han is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB). He obtained his Ph.D. in Applied and Computational Mathematics from Florida State University in 2015, followed by a Zorn Postdoctoral Fellowship at Indiana University. Prior to joining UB, he was a tenure-track Assistant Professor at Missouri University of Science and Technology (2017–2022). His research is supported by the National Science Foundation and Simons Foundation.
Research Interests: Dr. Han specializes in applied analysis, numerical methods, and simulations of partial differential equations arising in fluid mechanics. His work focuses on:
- Modeling and analysis of multiphase flows using phase-field approaches
- Hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin methods
- Prandtl boundary layer theory
- Flow instability and dynamical transitions
- Energy-stable numerical schemes for complex fluid-PDE systems
Publication Trends: His recent articles (2022–2025) emphasize the development of unconditionally stable, decoupled numerical methods for multiphase flows, Cahn-Hilliard variants, and geophysical fluid systems. Key themes include energy-law preservation, superconvergence techniques, and applications to porous media, magnetohydrodynamics, and interfacial phenomena.
Awards and Honors:
- Zorn Postdoctoral Fellowship (Indiana University)
Grants and Labs: Dr. Han leads research in computational fluid dynamics with NSF and Simons Foundation funding. His work involves collaborations across applied mathematics and engineering disciplines, though no specific lab names are mentioned.
