Danny J. Gustafson

Danny J. Gustafson is a Professor of Plant Molecular Ecology at The Citadel's Department of Biology within the Swain Family School of Science and Mathematics. His research focuses on ecological genetics and biodiversity conservation in coastal plain ecosystems.

• Specializes in environmental DNA (eDNA) techniques for studying larval amphibian communities
• Develops low-tech seed enhancement methods to restore longleaf pine understory biodiversity
• Teaches courses in Ecology, Evolution, Conservation Biology, and Environmental Science
• Co-teaches Tropical Rainforest and Reef Ecology course with Dr. John Zardus

Currently leads the Gustafson Molecular Ecology Lab (GMEL) in two longleaf pine ecosystem projects.
