Danny Elvidge

Danny Elvidge serves as Senior Lecturer in Building Physics and Services at the University of the West of England within the College of Arts, Technology and Environment. He co-leads the Building Services Engineering and Architecture & Environmental Engineering programmes—both achieving 100% teaching satisfaction in the 2025 National Student Survey—and oversees modules including Environmental Physics & Materials, Mechanical Services, and Architectural Acoustics.

His academic credentials include a PhD, MSc, BSc (Hons), PGCE, HECert, and professional designations (FHEA, AMIOA), complemented by prior experience as a UK Government Senior Scientist and physics teacher.

Dr. Elvidge's research integrates technical domains—architectural acoustics, building physics, sustainable services design, and vibration control—with pedagogical investigations into educational theory and student wellbeing. His dual-focus approach bridges built environment engineering and educational innovation, emphasizing mental health support in higher education.

Recent publications reveal evolving research trajectories: contemporary work centers on building physics (thermal comfort, acoustics) and educational technology (gamification), while earlier studies explore paleontological biomechanics of pterosaurs.

He received the 2025 Outstanding Teaching Award from UWE Bristol's College of Arts, Technology and Environment, recognizing inclusive and impactful educational practices.

As Co-Programme Leader, Dr. Elvidge directs curriculum development and student supervision across engineering programmes. His grant activities focus on pedagogical innovation and sustainability integration in built environment education.

He actively contributes to research clusters in Acoustics, Building Physics, and Pedagogy within the College, collaborating on interdisciplinary projects that advance both technical and educational frontiers.
