Dr Dannielle Upton is a postdoctoral research scientist and Program Manager for the Translational Oncology Program at the Garvan Institute. She serves as a conjoint lecturer at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), where she contributes to academic instruction alongside her research roles.
Her research spans translational oncology, paediatric brain cancer (particularly Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas), pancreatic cancer therapeutics, and reproductive biology. She has led multiple funded projects involving drug discovery, single-cell RNA sequencing, and therapeutic strategies like ACT001 repurposing and nanotechnology applications.
Dr Upton has received significant recognition through scholarships, travel awards, and presentation honors. Current funding sources include Mark Hughes Foundation, The DIPG Collaborative, The Kids Cancer Project, and UNSW-based initiatives.
