Danison Emmerson

Dr. Danison Emmerson is Assistant Professor of Neurology and Associate Program Director of the Neurology Residency Program at UMass Chan Medical School. Specializing in headache medicine and stroke prevention, he co-leads the Headache Program and PFO closure initiatives for young stroke patients in collaboration with cardiology.

Clinical expertise:

• Botulinum toxin therapy for migraine and facial pain syndromes
• EMG-guided spasticity treatment
• Young stroke prevention through PFO closure
• General neurology consults

Dr. Emmerson received the 2023 David A. Chad Training Award for resident education excellence. He co-develops innovations for the medical school curriculum including neurology simulations and case discussions. His medical training included neurology residency at University of Connecticut and vascular neurology fellowship at UConn Ayer Neuroscience Institute.
