Danilo Beli is a Lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), affiliated with the Dynamics & Control group. He holds a BSc (2011), MSc (2013), and PhD (2018) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP, Brazil). His postdoctoral research (2019–2022) was at the São Carlos School of Engineering, University of São Paulo (USP), with visiting positions at the University of Colorado Boulder (2020), Utrecht University (2022), Georgia Tech (2015–2016), and Le Mans University (2009–2010).
- Education:
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, UNICAMP (2011)
- Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, UNICAMP (2013)
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, UNICAMP (2018)
His research focuses on structural dynamics, wave-based methods, and metamaterials, with specialization in elastic/acoustic metamaterials, piezoelectric smart materials, and wave propagation phenomena. Key interests include topological modes, interface states in quasicrystals, and robustness of metamaterial systems.
His articles explore topics like programmable defects in piezoelectric metamaterials, topological states in quasicrystals, and wave localization mechanisms. Recent work emphasizes non-Hermitian systems and stochastic variability in engineered structures.
While no formal awards are listed, his extensive international collaborations and visiting positions reflect his academic impact. He teaches courses on structural dynamics, vibration analysis, and mechanical design at TU/e.
