Danielle Mariann Dove is a Research Fellow and Surrey Future Fellow at the University of Surrey's School of Literature and Languages, affiliated with the Institute for Sustainability. She holds a PhD in Nineteenth-Century Literature and previously served as Lecturer in this field since 2021. Her research explores intersections between Victorian and contemporary cultures, focusing on dress, sustainability, and ethical consumption. Key interests include neo-Victorianism, material culture, and literary celebrity studies.
Teaching achievements include the 2023 Faculty of Arts and Humanities Early-Career Teacher of the Year Award. She supervises postgraduate research, including Leah Fryer’s work on 19th-century women’s roles in art contexts. Current projects involve her monograph on Victorian dress in modern historical fiction, analyzing agency and memory in material objects.
Publications span scholarly articles on Dickens, neo-Victorian material cultures, and fashion history. Research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, blending literary analysis with cultural and sustainability studies.
